Diamond Sisters

Hey Guys, I am going to review these two amazing books! They are part of a series about three sisters who find out their father is billionaire.

Savannah- Is the youngest sister of the three. This makes her the immature one. She is always trying to fit in all the time. She is loving and bubbly type of character that you will love to hate.
Courtney- Who is the bookworm (she is my favorite) and smart one. She is always looking out for her sisters, even if she is not the oldest.  She follows the rules for the most part and loves school.
Peyton- She the rebel and does not care what people think of her. She very bold and independent for the most part.

"The Secret Diamond Sisters" by Michelle Madow is awesome introduction book to the life of the diamond sisters. You get to learn about their life, before their billionare father comes into the picture. They lived with their mother who is alcoholic  and their grandmother who has a sister who is really sick. You also get to learn about different minor characters , one being Madison who is the "mean girl".  Most of the book is around how they adjust to their new life in Vegas and their fun new adventures.  It is very cute and fun book to read.

Excerpt:

"Has your mom ever told you why she left Las Vegas and moved back to Fairfield?." Adrian asked.
"All she told us was that she don't want us growing up around your kind of lifestyle," Courtney said softly.
"And she was right," Adrian said. (83)

Thank you Michelle Madow for this sign copy!

"Diamond In The Rough" by Michelle Madow was a great ride.  I say this because, there was more going on in this book because you already know the sisters. TBH, I like this one better. Peyton gets her self in trouble. Savannah has big event happening. Courtney finds out a big secret that ruins her and the whole family. But there is more secrets that are revealed in this series... And the ending leaves you wanting more.

The Rancher and The Rockstar

This book by Lizbeth Selvig was a cute and a different story....

The story starts off by Gray (The Rockstar) trying to find his runaway son. His son lands on this ranch where he meets a woman named Abby who gives him a job.

Now Kim is Abby's daughter who is actually obsessed with The Rockstar ( shocker or not).

From the very first moment  Gray and Abby have this rocky relationship.
"Look, Madam Jabberingwickets, or whatever the hell this place is called. You've got my son."(8).

But sparks between them did fly, because Gray made up a song just for her :

"A storm-eyed girl took my hand one day, and said, Follow me, boy, I know the way.I went with open heart and soul, till the rain came down and she had to go."(21)

Which now I see could be seen as a foreshadowing of the novel, because Abby is a very independent women and does not let anyone do things for her. But, once Gray came along she had to let go of that power she had developed and for the better.

One of the reasons why I liked this book was because it is different, but also family-oriented . You have two sides the father who does not care much for his son till much later and then you have the mother and daughter.

" Can I get a tattoo? Just a little horse head or a dolphin or something?(Kim)
" If you get a tattoo before you're thirty, I'll disown you", Abby laughed (85).

Like any romance novel most of them have graphic sex scene or a imagine that you know what is seriously going on. However,  Selvig had a lovely way with words with this matter. My favorite sentence in whole book:

"She was  a glowing wood sprite, a fairy nymph, a woodland goddness" (323)

Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews

Thank you Liza Wiemer for this giveaway!

I want to start off by quoting the first two sentences : "Something was off. Cara Kryzik was no psychic, but the minute her bare feet hit the floor that morning, she sensed it."(1)

Just with that I was hooked! Cara is the main character in this book and her life is mess, when you get to know her. I love that she is a strong independent woman and she won't let no one stop her, even her own father! Her life is crashing down and to make matter worse someone is out to get her.But who and why? Can she fight it or will she surrender it all....
Is her best friend, Bert someone she can really trust?

There are crazy and fun adventure with two dogs.

"Poppy, come back!" (19)
"He  stole my dog..." (29)
"He has a dog of his own." (31)

Will Cara ever let any guy back into her life after her ex-husband cheated on her?
This book is  full of love and adventure.

A MUST BUY!

A romance novel and the book I am still reading

It is odd if I start a series that is not finished, why because I get anxious and I like knowing that it ended. If that makes sense?

With that being said I was so exited when Laura Kaye announced East of Ecstasy was the last in her Hearts of the Anemoi series, I know sounds rude. But, I thought yes I can finally buy the whole series now! I had been following her for a while and also read a lot of reviews of her series. Ok so... to be honest I read a lot of reviews that sex scene were really well written so this got me curious. However, one of the main reason I also picked it up was the idea behind mythology. Growing up in the schools I went all these gods seem to be real, imagine by disappointment when I learned it was all a lie.
So I started reading North of Need and I feel in love with Owen's character I mean who won't want a man like that! Rewind so Owen is a god, so why is he with Megan (earth)? He was snowman... but how did that happen... Can Megan stay with him and if so what must she do to be with him? Will she ever love him, after mourning her husband who died two years ago? Megan's Christmas will change forever!

Ok so this how I came across Gabby Bernstein, advertisement not cool. Why? To be honest, I would loved to know about her earlier.

Fine, that story is not important and if you think it is just ask me on twitter. I bought her most recent book Miracles Now , why I got it was that it has 108 tools (i call them tips ). I love yoga, but sometimes I really don't have time to do fifteen minutes as yoga (I hate saying this but let us be real ). Now I never practice meditation and yes it is different the way I see it (compare to yoga). That being said I am reading this slowly like a research book and underlining important key elements. The tips are short and sweet which can be plus if you want to read this in a day. Here is the issue about this book and lots of people will say it is very self promoted. I will agree, however the way I see it she wants people to share the knowledge. This book is something I will recommend if you are stress or have anxiety !
* BONUS IF you buy the book you get free videos by her.  Does not matter how you buy it! Click here for more info on her website

The Piano Man

The City by Dean Koontz comes out tomorrow (July 1st )

Here is the riveting, soul-stirring story of Jonah Kirk, son of an exceptional singer, grandson of a formidable “piano man,” a musical prodigy beginning to explore his own gifts when he crosses a group of extremely dangerous people, with shattering consequences.

I want to start by saying this was not the type of book I expected. Why? Well for starters I was expecting more action and suspense. Therefore, the beginning did not draw me in the way I hoped. However, towards the end there was a little more action going on and some sadness too. There is a lot of back and forth about Jonah Kirk's life.  I was not fond of this concept,  because I felt it was all over the place. As you might notice, I did not enjoy the novel as much. However, I liked the details and how poetically well written it was. I will share some excerpt below:

" The street maple, which would be scarlet by October, were green now, and a faint breeze trembled the leaves, so that on the [...] (47)."
" Birds sang in the trees, crickets chirruped in the grass, bouncy doowop music came [...] (156)."

I do want to share my favorite character which is a very important in the novel her name, Miss Pearl. She is " the soul of the city" and does this for millions of people, but she tell Jonah ( she calls him Ducks) that he is very important to her.

If you like beautifully written novels, history, music, or simply a boy narrator then this is the book for you!

Roald Dahl

The picture above is a picture I took from my trip to the museum. This is the front of The Roald Dahl museum and Story Centre located in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire (London).
This is the famous "Hut" where Ronald Dahl spent four hours writing some of his greatest stories! He spent a great deal here and always with six sharped pencils to write.

I grew up reading his books, but I don't read all 17 ( children books). I read the most known ones and I read them twice.
1.Matilda
2. The BFG
3.Charlie and the Chocolate factory
( The first book was published in 1964 and since then it has been translated in 58 languages)

This shows a picture of the first published book in 1964
In the near future I will own all of  his books children and adult. After all, his books were the reason why I started reading. He will always be my favorite author!

Frenemy of the People

(no copyright intended)

Today I am going to review Frenemy of the People by Nora Olsen. Buy Me Here

I want to start off by saying thank you to Net Gallery and to the publisher.

As always I am a fan of books with POV, this one was just that and I enjoyed it.

The story is about two girls who are from two totally different worlds. Lexie is rebel, but has a good heart. She loves butterflies and the earth (so much that she decided she wanted to be vegan).  See Lexie is mad at the world or that how it seems at first....

" I hated everyone in school with the red- hot passion of a thousands suns"( 20). ( overall thought)

But then she meets Clarissa...

Clarissa is a lovable girl, she has a couple of  "good" friends in school. She has loving parents and a sister. But, then one day she became bi curious as they call it and her life changed from there.  Can Lexie  and Clarissa be girlfriends or will they be enemies forever!?

"  You are the worst girl in the entire universe"  (118).  ( Clarissa to Lexie)

I really enjoyed this book, I  felt I was watching a movie when I was reading. I also really enjoyed the amount of details  in the book. I am aware this is a book for LBGTQ community, but I think anyone can enjoy it with an open mind!

Happy Fairy Tales

I am so HAPPY NETGALLERY approved me for this awesome book!

The book is called Get Happy by Mary Amato, a book that you should pre-order today!
Here is the link --> Get Happy
(no copyright intended)
This book was cute, funny, and intense!
Minerva (main character) has not seen her father since she was two years old, but something happens when she finally does see him. You have to read to find out (;
She goes on these cute adventures with this guy she likes called Hayes.
" As the train pulled up to the next station, Haynes stood up and, without hesitating, stuck a crisp ten dollar bill between the pages of the boy's book. "
There are a lot of funny section of Finnegan (her best friend) and Minerva.
Minerva is hiding something from her mom, so when her mom cleans her room:

" For heaven's sake, Minerva. You're  being ridiculous."
"I lashed out. " You don't have the right to mess with my things."
This book was amazing, please check it out.

Thanks to Net Gallery , I also read another book called "John Dreamer" by Elise Celine.

I enjoy reading this , because the whole story is a dream and  there are seven main characters. However, the narrator is Andrea and she does seem to be the main character ( this can be argued). What I really enjoyed about this book was how descriptive Celine was about each setting. I felt I was actually in their dream myself. However, the book was a little repetitive for the most part. That being said I really enjoyed the relationship of John and Andrea ( what happens to them both you must read to find out). I am so glad that this is series!

This book I am going to review next is one of my favorite series up to date. It is book 3 of UnEnchanted Series called Fable by Chanda Hahn.

We all know and love Mina, she is always trapped in these fairy tales. She has been trying to avoid the stories and did a good job succeeding. However, she can't finish the curse if she does not complete the stories. She tried to avoid the stories and now she has to suffer, HER BROTHER DIES! Is this real and if not can she save him and finally break the curse!?

"  I can't. You haven't finished your tale. You must defeat the Stiltskin to win your brother."

The first book of this series is free! The other two are $3.99 on Kindle  a steal if you ask me!

The NEW what?

(No copyright intended)

My review today is based on the novel above.

What I enjoyed

  1. I like the fact, that you get to know about the characters in the town and their little stories. ( Thunder Point)
  2. I like how Cee Jay appears out of nowhere  into these kids' life after years. (Drama and foolishness)
  3. My favorite character is Ashley , she deals with so much (Mostly Downy).  Her story line is intense and one of main reason why I actually kept reading this novel.
What I despised
  1. I wanted to know more about Sarah  and her story line.  Just maybe, I just felt her too dull.
  2. I wish Ashley and Eric story line was more developed. He could have been in the story earlier?
  3. Spencer if you are the "Newcomer" why are you towards the end of the novel. * However, the third part of Thunder Point series is mostly based on him ( The Hero by Robyn Carr) .
(Note - I did not read book one in Thunder Point series and I plan to do so. I will  hopefully read all of Thunder Point books! )

I really PUSHed myself to read this book

Let me start off by saying, I know a lot people value and respect this book (Push by Sapphire). I however, had a really hard time liking this book, because of the language. Not only is the book written in urban/slang style, but it is very brutally written. Take these two simple sentences as follows:
"Hmmm,", go fat black heifer and look at me. I don't believe this bitch no teacher.
The book is basically based on an illiterate teenager that has had a very bad childhood.I am aware that this book is written in the point of view of the main character who is illiterate, yet I still did not like it. She is writing from her thoughts and what seems to be her journal.  In the book you get to understand what is going on in Precious's head and the stuggles she faces. If you want to read this book for fun I don't recommend.Although, if you want to read a disturbing story about a young woman then sure pick up. Why not it is an easy read?
PS- In 2009 the book became a movie called, "Precious" which became a hit here is the Lionsgate Trailer:

Tear-Jerking

WOW!

I just finished reading the most emotional book I ever read in life (literally)! Yes, I cried it was that powerful. The book was called "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes.I will tell you little about the book, but I don't want to spoil it. YOU MUST READ IT.

The main character , her name is Louisa Clark she is low key woman in her late twenties. She has a regular family that loves her and a long relationship with her boyfriend Patrick. Her life is just right, but things change once Frank (her ex boss) decides to close the cafe one afternoon with no notice what so ever. Now she must find a job that will help her family and herself. Her dad tells her mother, "There are no bloody jobs,Josie. You know that as well as I do.We're in the middle of a bloody recession" (9). When she finally finds a job that can help her family, there is more to it then she thinks.

She meets a man, named Will in her new job. He is a very strong character and the total opposite of Louisa. Their friendship becomes the unthinkable and she soon finds that change can in fact be a good thing.

What made me cry? You are going have to read the book to understand (;

I want to give a shout out toLiza Wiemer for having an awesome giveaway on this book and checkout her blog click on her name. Look out for her next year she will be releasing a YA novel (=

I love this Ibook, "Throwaway" by Heather Huffman, because you step into the shoes of Jessie. She is the main character of the story, her life was never easy. Where do I begin....

"Where Dreams Begin" by Lisa Kleypas , I picked this book up awhile back and found the back very intriguing. It was not until I started to read the novel weeks ago that I found out the genre was under Historical Romance.  I had picked up this novel long ago but, found it quite dull. Still found it dull while reading it this time  here and there, the main reason, that Holland is too involved with her husband George (you must read the novel to understand).  One thing I truly disliked , was toward the end something drastic occurs! It beyond me why the author decided on this towards the last 50 pages or so. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Kleypas's details in graphic passages and her great development of characters. I felt as if each character I knew them personally! Overall, this historical romance was a joy to read.

Surprise Sunday Reviews

All I Need by Susane Colasanti was about two teenagers that feel in love with one another... I loved reading this book, because Skye and Seth share their point of view of their lives. They both come from different society per se, but have one thing in common the beach!  It is a true adventure when they both trying to find one another, and can't find each other. Want a love story and a quick read this summer this book is a must!

Melissa Explain It All by Melissa Joan Hart let us be honest here, I got the book because I am a fan of the author. But to be honest, I really enjoyed it you get a true inside of her real journey in life and not what is shown in the media. She share personal, funny, and serious stories. If you like memoirs don't miss out and if a fan of Melissa Joan Hart you should have it by now!

My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi at first you find  her life is just like any other teenager. She has an enemy and this is were it all begins...But something happens that changes her life forever, you get to know her more personally ( I enjoy that) and she becomes someone else. In the end, she finds herself. If you want a story that will move you and make you think twice then this is a must!

Friend or Soulmates...

As I mention in the preview blog, I won this book in a giveaway Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg. I am not getting paid to review this book either just a note. I want to start saying, I love reading books that  have a point of view of each character. This book is exactly that you get the point of view of Levi and Macallan. Their thoughts are quite similar, but keep in mind their gender. I must say I enjoyed reading Macallan's thoughts more, because they seemed realistic (or it might be... I am a girl so I am being biased) .  However, I really enjoyed Levi's transition from California to being Wisconsin kid. I liked all these random reference they both had about Buggy and Floyd it was like their own little world. I won't give the ending away, but I will tell you it was worth the pain of the continuous circle. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to maybe reading more Elizabeth Eulberg!

Bud NOT Buddy

I read Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis, to be fair I wanted to read this book a long awhile back since The Watson go to Birmingham-1963 which I believe I read in High School. Therefore, when I found it in yard sale I bought it. It was hanging around since, but I wanted to read it  boy was I wrong thinking I was going enjoy it as much as his other book. The story is about this young boy called Bud not Buddy (after awhile of reading this it actually was annoying), this boy was in foster care three times! The whole point of the story was for him to find his father... I am not going say more. However, his journey is fun read, but not as much when he encounter Lefty to me this was the best part in the book.I most say, I didn't really enjoy the book as much as I hope and ending was the worst in my opinion!

MY NEXT REVIEW with be an honor to write about because I received an advance copy by Scholastic of drum roll please ..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................BETTER OFF FRIENDS by Elizabeth Eulberg, I heard this book is amazing but of course I will see for myself. The release day of the book was actually today off by an hour or so. In meantime please check out her website. http://www.elizabetheulberg.com/

Hear Me Cry

I am going talk about Roll of Thunder,Hear my Cry by Mildred D.Taylor to be honest this is reallllyyy old book. However, I got it used and torn for a year or more saying I was going to read it and never did. Sorry to say, but the book cover was one to catch my eye if I am not mistaken in cover we have Little Man, Cassie, and Christopher. The cover seem to be about the last part of the book where their cotton is burning. This book was written based on the 1930s when whites still saw black people as someone less. Therefore, this book was heavily based on racial matters. Some excerpt below :

"Everybody born on this earth is something and nobody, no matter what color,is better than anybody else."
" You have to demand respect in this world, ain't nobody just gonnna hand it to you"

I choose these two quote, because even if this book is mostly talking how whites at the time treat black people wrongly. It  is also strongly a book that also mentions respect for anyone especially within the family. I think this is why I really enjoyed the book because, the Logans were a very strong family. What I strongly liked was that the book was voiced by Cassie a nine year old who was very mature for her age, but mostly because she faced a lot of obstacles through the book.

The end of the book was very sad, I do think this book is a good read!

What a Disgrace!

I want start off saying I really enjoyed J.M.Coetzee writing style. His writing  very straight forward and has an old fashion style which I highly enjoyed.  Coetzee seems to be writing in third person point of view such as "The Great Gatsby", however, it is like you hear David's inner thought who is the main character vs the actually narrator. This is just my opinion. In the beginning of the book David in my eyes was this crazy professor obsess with sex, but a lost soul. Even through in the whole book he actually seem very promised by who he is regardless of his wrong doing. This later leaves him to live with Lucy, his daughter who he really doesn't know at all. A lot of horrible events happen in the novel which I won't mention, because I actually think this is a book worth reading. Toward the end he moves back to his town, but Karma has bite him in the ass. His too old to have learned from his wrong doing, but now has to live by it in disgrace. My reason for my disappointment in this book is towards the end, because even though he learns to live with what occur to his daughter and him he gives up. I also really disliked being confused towards the end when he brings up characters that we have not read about. I am reviewing this novel based on the story not the political side.

PS- There is a  movie based on this book, I have not seen it. Maybe someday....

It is TRUE I am Hilary Duff fan

So doing a review on True and how much I love the author won't be fair. So lets talk about the series it was very well written it was a page turner. It dealt with Clea finding her soulmate, however her soulmate was actually dead! So how she know about him well she kept finding a hidden man in every picture she takes.Creepy if you ask me. So it is as I would call it a paranormal series really, if you like this sorta of thing check it out.A note she also wrote the book with Elise Allen a young adult writer who helped her in the process. True was great, but to be honest I think it end the way it did because it was just three books series.Don't get me wrong the ending leaves you happy but it could of gone on...
